Adam Thurrowgood on designing tracks from the seat, not the office
I grew up riding tracks built by people who did not ride. You can feel it — the jump that never quite works, the corner that fights you, the section everyone rolls. That is what pushed me into the seat of a machine.
Design decisions come from laps
Where a corner goes, how tall a berm sits, how long a table runs — those calls come from thousands of laps, not from a template. If it does not feel right on the bike, it does not stay in the ground.
Families, not just riders
Most of our work ends up being for families: a private property track that lets kids ride safely at home, or a club circuit that keeps juniors coming back. That is the part that matters.

Adam has spent 25+ years behind the controls and the handlebars. He designs every Full Throttle Earthworks track himself, from the rider's seat as much as the operator's — around the land, the bikes and the people riding them.
No templates and no copy-paste layouts. If a section doesn't feel right on the bike, it doesn't stay in the ground.
He writes about track building, flow, terrain and what actually changes when you ride what you build.
